Billy played knight in shining armor to Chelsea on The Young and the Restless. He saved her life, he supported her through her express recovery, and now he and Chelsea are sharing “family” dinners with Johnny and Connor. This sure seems like a set-up for romance to us. But would it be a good idea…for anyone?
Why not, 15% of the audience shrugs. They’ve burned all of their other bridges. Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) won’t be suckered by Billy (Jason Thompson) again, and Lily (Christel Khalil) has finally seen the real, whiny him.
As for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), both Adam (Mark Grossman) and Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) have finally learned their lessons about how toxic she is. Rather than hurting a lot of other people, they might as well turn to — and on — each other.
However, twice as many fans, 30%, would like to see Billy and Chelsea take their time. If they do decide to become a couple, they should do it when both aren’t so raw. He’s on the rebound, and she’s still trying to get her head together. Once they are both well, it can be something to consider. But not now. Oh, god, no.
And then there are the 55% of you who have no interest in witnessing this train wreck on a daily basis. Billy and Chelsea’s past is way, way, way too sordid to build a relationship on. Plus, think of how confusing this will be to Johnny (Paxton Mishkind).
He just got used to thinking of Chelsea as his biological mother and Connor (Judah Mackey) as his brother. Having Chelsea as Daddy’s girlfriend or, even worse, wife, would be awful for the kid. And, you know, for us, too.
