Sheila Carter is back on The Bold and the Beautiful, but CBS soap fans recall that her first appearance was on The Young and the Restless, where her target was Lauren Fenmore. Or, rather, Lauren’s then-husband, Dr. Scott Grainger, and their son, Scotty. Sheila kidnapped the tot and tried to kill Lauren, but that wasn’t the worst of her crimes.
She would return multiple times to go after not just Lauren (Tracey Bregman) but also Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and others. And she also had an awful lot of children, including Daisy Carter (Yvonne Zima), the biological mother of Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei) daughter, Lucy. With Daniel back in Genoa City, and Lauren not having much to do, is now the ideal time for Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) to pop back in?
We’ve been getting diminishing returns with Sheila, 9% of the audience laments, and if she’s to come back again, it had better be for a really good story. If it’s only so that Phyllis can yell and shriek about how awful she is, no, thanks, we’ve already got that with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) now.
As long as she’s on the run, there’s no reason for Sheila not to run to Genoa City, 27% shrug. There is only so long that she can stay in Los Angeles. How much sunshine and surf can one woman take? Sheila is a dark soul. Winter in Wisconsin is more her speed.
Sheila brings drama wherever she goes, and while soap fans, technically, are all about drama, Sheila’s is of the kind that 64% of you don’t need more of. Her schemes are usually of the fantastic variety, and you like your suds more grounded in reality. Sheila is more B&B material. If she didn’t regularly come around, they would be telling the same story…even more than they are now.
