Kyle Abbott is headed back to The Young and the Restless, just in time to discover that his late mom, Diane Jenkins, isn’t quite as dead as fishing a lifeless body out of the water would suggest her being. How should he react to the life-shaking news?
It’s been obvious from the start that Kyle (Michael Mealor) missed having a mother in his life. (He didn’t exactly have a dad, either, as Jack shipped him off to live with Diane’s parents, and then to boarding school.)
A winning 51% of you expect Kyle to embrace Diane’s return, but you advise him to be cautious. Diane clearly has an agenda. And the last thing Kyle wants is to become collateral damage. Or, worse, a direct victim of whatever Diane (Susan Walters) has in mind.
Kyle shouldn’t pause for one second to hear what Diane has to say. It was one thing for him to forgive Summer Newman Abbott (Hunter King) for blackmailing him into marriage, or forgive Tara Locke for lying to him about being Harrison’s father, or Jack (Peter Bergman) for more or less abandoning him as a kid.
But 46% of the audience refuses to consider the possibility that Kyle could do anything short of ream Diane out for the horrible person she is. Someone who faked their own death will never, ever be accepted in Genoa City!
Kyle has always wanted a Mommy, and 3% are certain he’ll embrace Diane with open arms. No questions, no concerns, certainly no yelling and screaming. Just a joyful family reunion. And maybe even anger at Jack for driving his mother to a point where she felt she had no choice but to play dead and remove herself from her son’s life for over a decade.
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
