Front Burner: A New Y&R Story For Sharon Rosales

The last time Sharon Rosales had something vaguely front-burner going on, on The Young and the Restless, she had breast cancer. Even her marriage to Rey Rosales was less about Sharon and more about, first, whether Sharon could stay away from Nicholas Newman, or, at the end, whether Rey Rosales would fall for Chelsea Lawson’s charms (assuming he survived Chelsea’s attempts to kill him).

Now Sharon (Sharon Case) is just a barista who pours coffee and offers free psychological advice…often at the same time. Should she get a story worthy of this Emmy winner?

Cheer Up Y&R

Yeah, enough with the grieving, 62% of you have decided. Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) has been dead for months. Get over it, and go do something interesting! Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) are obviously short-term. And Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is about to be free soon. Plus, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is currently a heartbroken mess. That’s Sharon’s favorite Adam. So many options! So little coffee to pour!

Good News For Sharon Rosales

We don’t want just any story for Sharon, an inverse 26% of the audience cautions. We want a really good story. That doesn’t mean listening to Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) whine or watching Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) pout. She needs to drive story, and not merely nod to it.

Then again, 12% are perfectly fine with Sharon just as she is. She had decades on the front burner, from her high-school romance with Nick to her relationship with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), to Faith Newman’s (Reylynn Caster) kidnapping, to Sharon’s own kidnapping of Christian, to the dysfunction with Adam, straight up until the marriage with Rey. We’re all Sharon-ed out, and her taking a break on the back burner is A-OK with us.
