Y&R’s Melissa Claire Egan Shares Tragic News & Asks For Help

Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan shared some horrible news that affected her household this week. The Chelsea Lawson actress asked her friends and fans for any help they could spare.

Egan took to Twitter to share the tragic circumstances her nanny’s family faced this week, along with a GoFundMe that was set up to help them in the aftermath.

“My nanny’s 3 year old niece and brother were tragically killed Tuesday night when a truck drove into their apartment while they were sleeping,” Egan wrote. “There are no words. Two beautiful souls. The driver is still out there. Please donate if you can.”

The photo included with the tweet showed a sweet little girl in a Santa Claus hat in front of a Christmas tree along with a photo of an older man, who was the girl’s father.

According to the GoFundMe page, “Jose Palacios was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend who worked hard to provide him for his family. Samantha Palacios was a daughter, niece, cousin, friend who was beginning her journey in life. The loss of our family saddens us, and we are asking for your help.”

Los Angeles Times reported that Jose Palacios, who was 42, and his daughter, who was 3, died earlier this month after a pickup struck their apartment building in Long Beach. In addition, other residents were injured in the crash.

Police are still searching for the driver of the 2014 Dodge Ram that crashed into the building. The man, who is between 20 and 25 years old, fled the scene of the accident on foot.
