Recently daytime viewers learned about the death of daytime veteran Marnie Schulenburg, who lost her life due to a rare form of breast cancer. The Young and the Restless star Greg Rikaart honored the late actress who left behind her husband Zack Robidas and their 2-year-old daughter Coda.
The Kevin Fisher actor took to social media to share a Go Fund Me benefitting Schulenburg’s family. He tweeted, “I didn’t really know Marnie, but knew of her story and was inspired by her strength and positivity. My heart hurts for her family. Please donate if you can. Marnie’s Family Fund.”
According to the fund, which was organized by Kim Williams, Schulenburg passed away just a few days shy of her 38th birthday. “Our family lost the most precious soul this week. Today [May 21, 2022] would have been her 38th birthday. She has been fighting a rare form of breast cancer like a badass for two years,” read the message. “Marnie’s untimely diagnosis came at the beginning of the pandemic when her daughter was only 5 months old. Even during her darkest times, her love, light, positive attitude and tenacity inspired every one of us.”
Earlier this month, Schulenburg shared her own words on Instagram for her mother and her daughter on Mother’s Day as well as those who found themselves fighting a similar battle to the one she’d fought.
“It’s not my ideal to be a 38-year-old Mom who needs an oxygen tank to survive right now. I want to be strong and beautiful for her. I want to show her how to move throughout this world with compassion, strength, vivacity, humor and joy like my Mother showed me,” she wrote, sharing sweet photos of herself and her daughter and her mother.
The actress appeared on Y&R in 2007 as Alison Stewart during a crossover for As The World Turns. She portrayed Alison on the CBS daytime soap from 2006 to 2010. Daytime fans might also recognize her as Jo Sullivan from the One Life to Live Prospect Park reboot in 2013. You can see her last Instagram post and Greg Rikaart’s tweet about her below.
