The Young and the Restless alum, Jordi Vilasuso, teamed up with Samantha’s Friends and the Code Red Foundation for an important cause recently.

Jordi Vilasuso Helps Raise Money

The former Rey Rosales actor shared a video of himself speaking at a recent Samantha’s Friends event — Colors of the Rainbow. He shared the details of his fundraising for the Code Red Foundation — a nonprofit organization that works to protect the youth of our nation.

“Wanted to thank everyone who came out this past weekend for the always wonderful [Samantha’s Friends] event!” read Vilasuso’s caption. “Special thank you for @_mammaalice_ for surprising me with a donation to our @coderedfoundation and inviting me to share some information on what me and my family are fighting for in the midst of all tragic school shootings…keeping our kids safe and giving them the best chance to survive if, God forbid, another school shooting did take place! Thank you all for your love and support and may the lives that have been taken, never be gone in vain.”

In the video, which you can see below, Jordi Vilasuso explained how he and his family made a documentary after the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Florida. During the process, they learned that every student who was shot and had a trauma kit survived, so the goal is to put those kits in every school across the country. That’s what the funds he helped raise went to purchase. He also explained that his own daughters dealt with a scary lockdown at their school in Burbank, California. You can see more about the documentary below.

Samantha’s Friends is is a non-profit that helps raise funds to provide the companionship and help of a service canine to those challenged by disabilities such as autism, stroke, combat injuries, and other catastrophic illnesses. Jordi Vilasuso and many of your other favorite soap stars regularly partner with the group to help fundraise for this wonderful cause that helps provide independence to people.
