Shows have gotten creative to keep cast and crew safe during the coronavirus. Case in point: when the script called for Chelsea to be kidnapped on The Young and the Restless, the show knew there was only one man for the job – her portrayer’s real-life mate!
“When you have to get ‘kidnapped’ on the show you work on during Covid times, and no one’s allowed to touch you…sometimes the husband has to come in and do the job,” Egan says, referring to YR reaching out to her real-life husband Matt Katrosar, head of west coast advertising sales, Pluto, who’s getting to play actor (and kidnapper!) this week.
“Tune in Wednesday (but watch all week, it’s gettin’ real juicy!) to see @katrosar kill it as the ‘masked man’, (he prefers to be called Stryker),” Egan adds.
The actress’s pals from daytime past and present weighed in on this move. Most notably, her former leading man, Justin Hartley (ex-Adam; now, Kevin, This Is Us), wrote: “Now I know what I’m doing on Wednesday.”
Brytni Sarpy (Elena) let emoticons express her thoughts: “😂😂😂😂.” Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) posted: “OMG!!!!!!! I LOOOOVE this!!!!”
“No way! Omg I love this ❤️,” wrote Kate Mansi (ex-Abby, Days of our Lives). Egan’s former AMC pal Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall) wrote: “Oh my god I looove this so much! Amazing!! What a fun role for @katrosar! Stryker! 😂😂👏👏.”
Story-wise, Adam (Mark Grossman) seems to be behind Chelsea’s kidnapping because he seems like he’s gone further over the edge than ever. Don’t miss Katrosar’s YR debut on Wednesday, November 4. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
