After a long summer of lingering questions, This is Us returns to NBC this Tuesday night with a special two-hour premiere. In case you can’t wait for your double dose of the Pearsons, here’s a spoiler for you!
This Is Us Sneak Peek
Justin Hartley, who plays “Number One” Kevin, previewed what’s to come for his character on the opening episode of Season 5, in a video he posted on Twitter.
One thing to expect is the show will talk about the COVID-19 pandemic, as Kevin is seen wearing a mask outside of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) house. He’ll have some exciting news to tell them—something he said, “didn’t seem Zoom appropriate.”
While Toby guesses that it’s “The Big One!” thinking Kevin has been named the new Batman, once he learns that isn’t it, he guesses that maybe he started a new tequila company and jokes that he “got someone knocked up.”
Oops! Seems he hit the nail on the head with that one, as Kevin asks Madison (Caitlin Thompson) to get out of the car, and stuns Kate and Toby with the news that Madison is pregnant—with twins! “Toby, don’t make me say it twice,” Hartley wrote on his Twitter.
In the scene, Toby is ecstatic and is at a loss for words, but Kate seems much less enthused by the news at first. Concerned Kevin asks his sis what she’s feeling, but she is just as happy, and the two have a “massive air hug.”
Neighbor Gregory (Timothy Omundson) even joins in on the congratulations.
While fans already knew about the pregnancy news, and Kate already chewed her brother out at the end of last season for sleeping with her best friend, this was still a nice moment of happiness to see Kate so on board with the life-changing news for two people she cares so much about.
