This Is Us fans were treated to some good news when NBC announced that the show would start to air its newest season on Oct. 27, two weeks earlier than originally planned. Which is a good thing because we have big questions that need answers!
This Is Us New Season
Thankfully, the show finished its production last season before the pandemic hit, so it was able to complete its Season 4 arc as planned. But This is Us being what it is, that meant a lot of glimpses into the future which begs many questions.
Here is what we hope the new season answers sooner rather than later.
1. The Kevin/Randall Rift
We know that Randall (Sterling K Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) have a big falling out somewhere between the events of last season and their 40th birthdays, which is set to occur this year. While tempers did flare over Randall’s decision to go behind Kevin’s back with his mom’s treatment for possible Alzheimer’s, that probably wasn’t the catalyst for them talking. We need to know what transpired between the brothers that would cause such a rift and what helped bring them back together in the future.
2. Rebecca’s Love Life
Throughout Season 4, we saw future events of the family gathering and we eventually learned that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) was most likely on her deathbed. But it wasn’t Miguel by her side, rather her brother-in-law Nicky (Griffin Dunne), who appeared to be wearing a wedding ring. Did Rebecca find love with another Pearson man or is he simply pretending to be Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) to provide her with some final peaceful moments?

3. What About Kate?
During the family gathering mentioned above, there seemed to be no sign of Kate (Chrissy Metz). We see an older Kevin and Randall, and even Toby stops by—but no mention of Kate at all. Does this mean that something terrible happens to her before the events of this sad day?
4. The Future For Kevin
We know Madison (Caitlin Madison) is pregnant with Kevin’s baby (twins?), but is this one of the kids calling Kevin “dad” in the future? Will Kevin wind up with Madison, or will he find happiness with Cassidy, Sophie, or someone else? It seems that someone is sharing Jack’s dream cabin with him, but who finally won Kevin’s heart?
5. What’s Up, Doc?
During Madison’s trip to her baby doctor, she met a man who the show devoted a great deal of time to, and even showed flashbacks to the days of Gerald McRaney’s Dr. K, making viewers feel there was some sort of link between them. Who is this mysterious doctor and how does he play a role in the Pearson family going forward?
This Is Us Season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Check your local listings for airtimes.
