It’s been two months since the California wildfires, which destroyed many properties in the Los Angeles area. The Young and the Restless star Joshua Morrow is one of the many people whose homes were ruined. Now, the actor and his family are trying to rebuild their lives following the disaster.

Memories Of A Community

Many celebrities had their houses destroyed by the recent wildfires. Morrow’s (Nick) Y&R co-stars Eric Braeden (Victor), Amelia Heinle (Victoria), and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) lost their homes. The actor’s home sustained only smoke damage, and he was able to save cherished family heirlooms.

But like many Palisades residents, Morrow and his family were forced to evacuate. The star, his wife Tobe, and their four kids alternated between staying in rentals and with friends.

When it was finally safe to go back, Morrow was shocked at the destruction.

”You could go in and clean up the house that we lived in, but the neighborhood, it looks like bombs went off,” he told Woman’s World. “It’s just devastation everywhere you look. Obviously, they’ll go in and fix it, but it will never be what it was.”

Seeing the destruction caused feelings of sentiment in Morrow.

”The thing we lost that hurts is the community,” he explained. “My family began and was raised there. My kids played in those parks, went to those schools and yogurt shops. The best years of my life without question were formed there, and it’s just been wiped off the face of the earth. The memories I have, that’s all that’s left now.”

Temporary Home

After couch surfing for weeks, Morrow and his family have found a new, temporary home in a new community. As for what their plans are moving forward, he admits there’s uncertainty.

”We’re in there for a couple years,” he explained. “We don’t know when we’re going back…if we’re going back. It’s that painful. We don’t know what life is going to look like in a couple years. The unknowing is daunting and we feel sort of guilty about bailing on this community we love. But I’ve got a family to raise and now, we can begin to piece things back together.”
