What’s Different for Casey Moss
Bryan: When you got the call to return to DAYS, what was your first reaction? Was it an immediate yes?
Casey: My immediate reaction was a mix of gratitude and excitement. It had been a couple of years since I had been on the canvas, so it was exciting to see what they had in store for the character. And the Days set, it really feels like home away from home for me. So I had an overwhelming sense of gratitude to go back home, so to speak, and tell some stories with people I love and love to work with.
Bryan: Every return to Salem brings a different chapter. How does this stint feel different from your previous runs, both as an actor and in your approach to JJ Deveraux?
Casey: In a way, this stint feels both different and the same. The same being all the familiar faces; we kind of went back into the past with the initial Abigail & Clyde storyline. And different being, we’re all a decade older now. I think a decade of living, growing, and learning can have a massive impact on a person’s craft and their approach to it. So it’s a gift to go and play with everyone, but in a much richer, nuanced, and I think more grounded environment.
As far as my approach to JJ, I just try to be as honest and truthful as I can for the moment in time we’re capturing. If I’m in Salem, I’m doing Salem things, whatever Salem needs, I’m there.
Bryan: Looking back at your time away from the show, what were some of the biggest challenges, lessons, or moments of growth you experienced personally and professionally?
Casey: In my opinion, these challenges, lessons, and opportunities for growth happen on the daily. But to put it simply, to be able to look back on my time away brought perspective on what it means to be here in the first place. And for that, I’m grateful.
Bryan: You and your wife, True, (O’Brien, Paige) have built a beautiful life together. How has marriage changed or grounded you in this season of your life?
Casey: I appreciate the kind words, Bryan. I think marriage made us both want to love and fight harder for each other. We’ve been together for a long time, and we’re fortunate enough to feel like no time has passed at all. But she’s the best part of my day; marriage just turned it up to 11.

Bryan: Looking at who you were when you first joined DAYS versus the man you are today, what are you most proud of?
Casey: It’s crazy to think that was 13 years ago… If I had to wrap it all up into a nutshell, I would have to say that I’m most proud of being able to say “I’m proud of myself”. And it took 32 years. And I understand that may seem silly to some people. But in all honesty, I am proud of that.
Bryan: Music has always been a huge part of your identity. How has your music career evolved over the years, and does creating music fulfill a different part of you than acting?
Casey: Yes, music was and still is a large part of who I am. But it’s interesting, the reasons for playing music have changed over the years. As did my taste in what kind of music I wanted to create. At some point, I’ll release what I’ve been working on, but I’m taking my time with it.
For me, acting and music both bring a sense of fulfillment, but in different ways. Performing music on stage is a different thing entirely. But creating music, alone in a room with no distractions, is very similar to being locked in a scene with someone, creating something unexpected. That’s where I like to be. That’s my happy place.
Bryan: Fans have continued to champion your return for years. What does it mean to know that the audience has stayed connected to you and has never stopped rooting for JJ?
Casey: The fans mean absolutely everything to me. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love to do. I can’t thank them enough for continuing to champion the character and my playing of him. From day one, they were rooting for JJ and luckily my parents were one of the most beloved super couples in Soap History so fans were rooting for the character before I even got there haha. But their support means everything to me, and I can’t thank them enough.
Bryan: Soap fans have watched you grow up from a young actor into the man you are today. What would you like to say to the viewers who have supported you through every chapter of your journey?
Casey: First off, thank you. I was 18 going on 19 years old when I joined DAYS and it changed my life forever. The fans have been with me since day one and continue to stick by JJ’s side all these years later. And may we continue to have many more years together. Thank you DAYS fans. Much love to you all.
