On the September 8 episode of Days of our Lives, EJ was disappointed to find out that Sydney wasn’t in Italy. There went his excuse for following Belle and Chad around. But we know his daughter will be first spotted — by Gabi and Philip — on the September 10 episode. So we’re already thinking ahead to what trouble will follow her once she inevitably returns to Genoa City.

Key Takeaways

  • Sydney is all grown up and returning with an impressive résumé.
  • Sami and EJ’s daughter has some seriously troublemaking shoes to fill.
  • Sydney may be hiding a secret she desperately wants to protect.

Sydney Is Back and All Grown Up

The last time DAYS fans properly saw Sydney (other than as a preteen in the off-shoot A Very Salem Christmas holiday movie), she was just a toddler.

And she was strangely unfazed by the fact that, for the first year of her life, she was raised as EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel, who teases where his character is a year from now) and Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) daughter, before Sami (Alison Sweeney) found out her baby had been stolen from her.

But, then again, kids in Salem have no trouble being passed from parent figure to parent figure — just look at baby Trey! So we presume Sydney was fine growing up in Italy, even though her dad was in a coma for a big chunk of her childhood. But she’s all grown up now, and she has an MBA and a JD, to boot!

Which means she had to come back to the U.S. at some point. Strange that none of her family members ever mentioned it.

Sydney Has Some Big, Troublemaking Shoes to Fill

Sami raised hell in Salem from the time she was a teenager, so we had great hopes for her twins to also be troublemakers. But Allie (Lindsay Arnold) was brought to Salem pregnant, so once she was a mom, she became pretty tame.

As for Johnny (Carson Boatman), even when he was possessed by the devil, he caused less trouble than an unpossessed Sami. And these days, he’s just EJ’s tool. So we’re really hoping a newly grown-up Sydney (Sydney Malakeh) will live up to both her parents’ legacies.

Sydney May Have a Secret She Desperately Wants to Keep

Will Sydney go after Cat (AnnaLynne McCord), whom she will rightly suspect is out to get her dad? Will she resent Chanel (Raven Bowens) for pulling Johnny to the side of goodness and light? How about Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews, who is DAYS’ Performer of the Month for August), who is trying to turn DiMera into a non-profit?

And what about Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Gabi (Cherie Jimenez), who run into Sydney in Monte Carlo… and might learn something about little Sydney that she just might desperately want to keep secret? If they threaten her, what will Sami and EJ’s daughter do in return?
