Michelle Stafford is at the center of drama on The Young and the Restless. Her character, Phyllis, ended up in a coma after her fiery car crash. The drama doesn’t just live on the soap; it also affects the actors’ lives. Stafford took fans behind the scenes to show what we mean.
The Drama Lives On
Stafford posted a new BTS video on Instagram. She previously showed fans what it took to create that car wreck. (Check Out The Fiery Crash Here.) Stafford filmed herself from a hospital bed. She had burn marks all over her face, but that didn’t stop her good mood.
Stafford gave the camera a thumbs-up sign. She then panned the camera over to her co-stars, who were filming a scene. Next to her were Allison Lanier (Summer), Michael Graziadei (Daniel), and Conner Floyd (Chance). Brytni Sarpy (Elena) walked into the hospital room.
She uttered the line, “I’m gonna bring your mother in for a CT scan.” She noticed Stafford’s camera and gave the peace sign. The group couldn’t hold back their laughter. Lanier laughed and said, “Mom… It’s me, Summer…”

The Y&R cast then headed outside the studios for their lunch break. Stafford went to Erewhon – Grove grocery store with her stage makeup still on. Despite looking banged up, she joked that she “would like a coffee.”
She was there with her co-stars Sarpy and Graziadei. Graziadei asked her if she was “filming the whole time.” She responded with a resounding “Yeah.”
Fans loved the behind-the-scenes video, as they were interested in seeing how the scenes came together. Other fans were confused by Stafford’s Instagram post. They thought Stafford ended up in the hospital, like her onscreen persona did.
“Oh my, I thought you were really in the hospital. Thank God it’s only the show,” one fan wrote. Another user wrote, “I love seeing behind the scenes!”
“lol I wish you’d gotten people’s reactions to seeing the bruising on your face lol. Although it’s Hollywood, so they’re probably used to seeing actors like that,” a third fan joked.
