The Young and the Restless star Melissa Ordway (did you know this about her?) shared her journey to work with her fans. She then gave a glimpse into how she becomes Abby Newman on the soap, with a quick peek at the set that’s sure to tantalize the viewers.
In Early For Makeup and Wardrobe
Since 2013, Melissa Ordway has played the scheming Abby Newman and has enjoyed every minute of it. On May 17, she posted a video to Instagram with the caption, “‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ – Confucius. A little Friday #bts to end your work week 🎬 @youngandrestlesscbs.”
In the video, she took fans from the moment she got into her car until her work day was complete. “It’s bright and early here in Santa Monica,” she said and continued, “Well, first things first: I gotta stop and take my [under] eye patches off, and I have to go to Alfred because I can’t start a day at work without an Alfred.” Alfred is a popular coffee shop chain in California, as well as a location in Houston, Texas, and several international places.
She walked into the CBS studio, and the video cut to her in her dressing room after getting her makeup and hair done, and praised the departments stating, “Stacy and Lauren killed it.” She was referring to staffers Stacey Alfano, the show’s makeup artist, and Lauren Mendoza, the hair stylist, who has won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Drama Series.
She Shared a Glimpse of the Set
In her dressing room, she panned across a cavalcade of photos, noting that they were “Pictures of my babies.” (Check out a special celebration Ordway did for her daughter.) The song Espresso by an artist named Sabrina Carpenter played over the video, making some of her narration unintelligible, but we could see her wearing a beautiful floral gown as Abby after visiting the wardrobe department. As she walked, co-star Beth Maitland (Traci) came up alongside her, and a giddy Ordway excitedly stated, “Look who I’m working with today! Yayyy! It’s gonna be a good day!”
She did a quick panning shot of the set with the crew hustling and bustling about and ended the video outside the studio again, saying, “That’s it for today. Thanks for joining! Hope you guys have a great day! Keep watching The Young and the Restless.”
The show’s official Instagram page replied, “Love this BTS.” Tracey Bregman responded simply with several fire emojis, while Beth Maitland posted, “Had so much fun with you…as I always do. Love you honey!!!”
