Soap Hub newsletter subscribers mark your calendar for Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 7pm ET/4pm PT. That’s when veteran soap star Eva LaRue will be joining us for a Soap Hub Fireside video chat!
Eva LaRue burst onto the soap scene as Margot Collins on Santa Barbara in 1988, a scammer who decided to try and turn her life around, but still couldn’t win the affection of the man she loved. After just a few months, Margot left town, and LaRue began adding primetime appearances to her resume.
In 1993, Eva LaRue took on the role of the beloved neurosurgeon Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children, a role that she portrayed on and off through 2011. The character would fall in love, struggle with infertility, adopt a child only to have him taken away by the birth mother, be the victim of several of Erica Kane’s manipulations, go down in a plane crash and be presumed dead, lose her memory, and find her way back to have the love of her life, Edmund Grey, only to suffer through his tragic murder.
The role of a lifetime garnered actress two Daytime Emmy nominations, landed her a marriage to co-star and on-screen love, the late John Callahan (Edmund on AMC), a beautiful daughter named Kaya, and a forever “family” with her fellow All My Children cast members. Even after AMC was canceled, the close-knit cast stayed in touch.
Eva LaRue tackled another fan-favorite role on primetime as Natalia Boa Vista on CSI: Miami from 2005 – 2012, a cop with a knack for forensic lab work to solve tough cases. The versatile actress headed back to daytime for a short-stint as Celeste Rosales, mother to Lola, Arturo, and Rey, on The Young and the Restless. Although the role lasted a few months, Eva LaRue earned a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performance.
Spend an evening with soap alum Eva LaRue, get the behind-the-scenes scoop on some of your favorite daytime shows, and find out what she is up to now.
