Audra’s character is experiencing growth. She’s shown a softer side of herself in her relationship with Nate. When she met Amy, Audra quickly became immersed in his family dynamic. It’s interesting to see her care for someone else for a change. The Young and the Restless star Zuleyka Silver revealed what’s really going on in Audra’s mind.
Deepening Bonds
Audra has formed a bond with Amy (Valarie Pettiford). In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, she talked about their newfound relationship. Audra (Silver) really does care about Amy. Amy became Audra’s priority ever since things got serious with Nate (Sean Dominic). However, that could complicate matters when Holden (Nate Owens) in town.
“Audra genuinely cares for Amy. I feel like Amy has a lot of the qualities that Audra wished her real mom had, and so I think she has this growing affection for her—and I think that Audra is very protective over the people that she cares about. I think that’s why she was so stern or, I guess, demanding with Holden,” Silver said. “She genuinely wants what’s best for Amy and she knows how much Amy cares for her son, and Audra felt like Holden could influence Damian to make that happen.”
Sharing Praise
Audra isn’t the only one who adores Amy. In the interview, Silver offered up praises for her co-star. She admitted that she loves loves working with Pettiford. She’s taken on a heavy and emotional role since her character is dying and wants to connect with her son. Silver was impressed with Pettiford’s ability to stay in character. She’s also as nice as she comes across on screen.
“She’s just so warm, so sweet, so great. I was actually telling Sean this; I was like, ‘We can do multiple takes and she will be right there emotionally.’ She’s just so emotionally available and I think it’s admirable, how open she is, because that’s what we all hope to be as actors once we’re filming — just wearing our hearts on our sleeve and being open in the moment.”
She feels inspired by Pettiford when they work together. Y&R fans can tell that Amy brings that out of Audra. It’d be wonderful to see where their relationship takes them. Just as long as Holden doesn’t interfere. Silver previously teased that trouble is coming for Nate and Audra.
