The Young and the Restless’ Courtney Hope shared with her fans how, despite facing incredible darkness in one’s life, we can all rise above it and persevere. Her words lived up to her name, inspiring great hope in all of her followers.
With many years of success under her belt as Sally Spectra on first The Bold and the Beautiful, and then Y&R — a part that won her the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2024 — Courtney Hope has opened up her private life to fans sporadically, including discussing her brief marriage to General Hospital star, Chad Duell (Michael). But recently, she bravely took to Instagram to discuss a topic that was brewing within her for decades. (Find out why she was almost barred from an Emmy party!)
“If you told me my life would look like this five, ten, twenty years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you… but man I wouldn’t change a thing🌻🧘🏼♀️🙏🏼,” she started off, adding, “I was never going to say anything about the low moments of the last half decade of my life, mostly because I was just trying to keep my head above water and sometimes didn’t even know which way was up.” Realizing that many people in the world had similar experiences, she explained that, “I decided to share a bit of what I’ve learned through my triumph over betrayal and deep heartache… in hopes that maybe my healing can comfort someone else along their journey.”
She shared her profound thought that, “I have come to realize these experiences are many of the grains of sand that make up the beach in the masterful paradise that is my life. I thank God for where I am today 🥰 and those before me whose stories have guided my healing and hope”
Along with the words in her post were several images of her, as well as quite a few pages of text shared as images. “For anyone who has been through betrayal, abandonment, deep heartbreak, abuse and/or manipulation: know it may break you, it will change you, but it doesn’t have to stain your future,” she began. Hope explained that after quite a bit of personal suffering, her worldview changed. “The once loving voice in my head now spoke to me with vitriol, judgment, and fear,” she stated, going on to explain that she believed the darkness in her mind pushed her into a “lonely place.”
However, after attempting to find herself again, she realized the “old” Courtney Hope was gone, but embraced a newer, more confident version of herself. The quest for her old self, “Was keeping me weighted down because I was never supposed to find her, this was about me becoming someone new.” She continued with words of inspiration about finding the light and emerging from the darkness, confidently stating that she’s faced great betrayals in her life, but never let it get her down completely.
Everyone embraced her profound words, including co-star Lauralee Bell (Christine), who responded, “You’re helping many by showing how in time…getting there is possible!! 🙏❤️😘” Fellow soap star Tamara Braun (Ava, Days of Our Lives) wrote, “Honest, vulnerable, caring and true for so so many. Bless you, beautiful. 💕✨💕”
