Deceased characters rising from their graves have become the norm on soaps. Nevertheless, The Young and the Restless bringing back Susan Walters as the late Diane Jenkins was a bit of a shocker.

Susan Walters Returns To Y&R

The character, last played by General Hospital’s Maura West (Ava Jerome), was pronounced dead after an altercation with Nikki in 2011. Now Walters, who portrayed Diane from 2001 to 2004 and briefly in 2010, is back in the intriguing role.

A consummate performer, whose credits include an array of film and popular primetime series, including regular roles on Melrose Place, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, and more, Walters will be bringing the drama as Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) rebellious ex.

Want to learn more about the actress? Here are seven things to know about Susan Walters:

1. Walters’s first professional gig was portraying spoiled rich girl Lorna Forbes on Loving. She was an original cast member on the soap, which debuted in 1983.

She’s a former beauty pageant queen. Well, make that junior beauty pageant queen. Walters, who was born in Atlanta, GA, became Miss Teen All American in 1981, representing the Peach State.

3. She’s been married to actor Linden Ashby since 1986. The couple met on Loving, where they played cousins. (He was cast as Curtis Alden).

Loving isn’t the only soap Walters and Ashby have both appeared on. Ashby portrayed Cameron Kirsten on The Young and the Restless from 2003 to 2004. The character was an abusive villain, who was once involved with Sharon (Sharon Case).

Seinfeld fans will long remember Walters for her portrayal of Dolores/“Mulva” in 1993 and again in 1996 and 1997. The character was a woman Jerry dated whose name he couldn’t recall but said she was relentlessly teased in school because her name rhymed with a part of the female anatomy.

Walters has appeared in a number of Aaron Spelling productions throughout her career. One memorable one was the 1988 television miniseries, Elvis and Me. She co-starred as Elvis Presley’s wife, Priscilla, in the project.

7. She likes sports. Her Twitter page notes her allegiance to the GA Dawgs, aka the Georgia Bulldogs, the athletic teams that represent the University of Georgia. She is also an LA Rams fan.
