Melissa Claire Egan currently returned to her role of Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless after a year away from the show, but the actress is also beloved for having played Annie Lavery on the now-defunct soap All My Children.
Along with her soap career, Egan has also appeared on television shows such as Bones, Criminal Minds, One Tree Hill, and Dawson’s Creek. From her surprising skit partner at age 11 to her first television show, here are five fast facts about The Young and the Restless actress.
In The Beginning
Egan was born on September 28 in Pound Ridge, New York and she has two brothers, Ryan and Scott. She started taking acting classes when she was around 10 years old, but her mother wanted her to attend college. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in dramatic arts.
Sold In Stores
While Egan became interested in acting at a young age, she also started modeling. In fact, she was actually on the cover of the popular board game in the ‘80s, Girl Talk, when she was just 13.
What A Coincidence
Egan appeared in a fun skit on Late Night with Conan O’Brien when she was just 11 years old. It was about a spelling bee and in the skit, she was competing against a then-unknown Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), who was only 8 at the time.
Up the Creek
Egan’s first television role was on the popular teen show, Dawson’s Creek, and she played the role of Ilyse Todd. She returned to the Creek two years later, but that time she played a different role.
Getting Personal
Egan got engaged to Matt Katrosar in February 2013 and the couple tied the knot on July 26, 2014, in Santa Barbara, California. She also served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of her former on-screen husband, Justin Hartley (ex-Adam), to her BFF Chrishell Hartley (Jordan, Days of Our Lives).
