It’s been a while since The Young and the Restless has indulged in that soap staple, the baby switch. There was Adam Newman kidnapping Faith from Sharon Newman and giving her to Ashley Abbott, and then there was Sharon keeping Nick Newman’s son, Christian, from him for over a year.
Young and the Restless Swap
But those tots were too young to have an opinion on the matter. We suggest an offspring switch where both the parents and the children agree to it. We suggest that Jack Abbott and Victor Newman swap Kyle and Adam.
Y&R: Here’s Why
Adam (Mark Grossman) has already turned down Victor’s (Eric Braeden) multiple offers to work for him in order to accept a job at Jabot. Victoria (Amelia Heinle) insists it’s because her brother is an ungrateful brat who blames their Daddy for everything that ever went wrong in his life. She’s kind of glossing over the part where Victor gave Adam the CEO job only to dump him the minute Victoria became available. More than once.
Young and the Restless: Here’s Also Why
Meanwhile, Kyle (Michael Mealor) has worked with Victor against Jack (Peter Bergman) before and has just been caught doing it again. We know it’s just because Kyle is jealous of and feels threatened by Adam, but he has all sorts of whiny defenses for what he’s done.
Here’s Really Why
So why not solve both issues with a simple swap? Kyle can pledge his lifelong loyalty to Victor – we bet Summer (Allison Lanier) would love that. Not only would Kyle be forever in her family’s bosom, but it would mean less interaction with that awful Diane (Susan Walters).
And Adam can take over Kyle’s responsibilities at Jabot. (We’re sure Grandpa Victor will buy the company Jack purchased for Kyle and Summer and bring it over to the Newman stable. It’s good to be the king.)
Peace will reign. Everyone will be happy, and Victor and Jack can finally have sons they actually like, instead of ones they are forced to love.
