Abby Newman Abbott, daughter of Victor Newman, granddaughter of John Abbott, and mother of a tiny Chancellor-Winters, should be the most powerful player on The Young and the Restless. Instead, she is barely an afterthought. If that. Does anybody tell her anything? Why don’t they?
Does Abby (Melissa Ordway) know that her niece, Faith (Reylynn Caster), was kidnapped? And that Abby’s ex-husband, Chance (Conner Floyd), saved her life? Does she know that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) went up against her crazy, lunatic stalker, Cameron (Linden Ashby)? Does she know her other brother, Adam (Mark Grossman), lost his unborn daughter? Did anyone even think to text her a head’s up?
Meanwhile, Traci (Beth Maitland) took it upon herself to call a family meeting. She demanded Jack (Peter Bergman) be there—also Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Billy (Jason Thompson). Diane (Susan Walters) and Summer (Allison Lanier) were asked to leave since they weren’t really family. But Jack’s son, Kyle (Michael Mealor), was there. So where was Ashley’s daughter?
Now, maybe, Traci didn’t invite Abby because she only wanted to lecture those family members who are currently spending all their time sniping at each other. And Abby is the family good girl. But maybe Abby is the family good girl who never argues or disagrees or takes offense BECAUSE NOBODY EVER TELLS ABBY ANYTHING!
Maybe she has some very strong opinions about…something. Anything. Hey, we know she doesn’t like the idea of her mom marrying Tucker (Trevor St. John). Why didn’t Traci choose to wag her finger at Abby about that? Is it because, even when Abby expresses her opinion, nobody cares? Is her disapproval not even worth acknowledging? Wow. What would John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) think about that?
