Elena Dawson finally caught boyfriend Nate in the act with Victoria on The Young and the Restless and kicked him to the curb. She’s single again! Good for Elena! And good for all the eligible men — and women — of Genoa City. Here’s why.
Genoa City is a painfully interbred town. It’s almost impossible for a single person to accept a date from another single person without first doing a quick cheek swab and a DNA test. Because almost everyone is related to everyone else. Poor baby Dominic wins that sweepstakes, hands down. He’s a Newman, an Abbott, a Chancellor, and a Winters. He might as well resign himself to becoming a priest. But Elena (Brytni Sarpy) isn’t related to anyone. So here is who she is eligible to date.
Elena can date every single Newman. There’s Nick (Joshua Morrow), with whom she just had a very chemistry-filled lunch. There’s Adam (Mark Grossman), who’s been dumped by his baby mama. There’s Noah (Rory Gibson), who might be happy with Allie (Kelsey Wang), or he might not be. We have no idea. There’s Reed, if he ever comes back from college, and even Victor (Eric Braeden) himself, when it’s time for his and Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) breakup.
She can date all the Abbotts, from Jack (Peter Bergman) to Billy (Jason Thompson) to Kyle (Michael Mealor). She can even date some Abbott exes, like Tucker (Trevor St. John) and Chance (Conner Floyd), and miscellaneous hangers-on like Daniel (Michael Graziadei) or Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Kevin (Greg Rikaart).
And why limit yourself to men? Surely, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) are due for some marital problems any minute now. Summer (Allison Lanier) looks like she’s fed up with anyone who won’t rah-rah her stupid decisions of late and is open for some major life changes. Sharon (Sharon Case) doesn’t have anything to do. And what could be more fun than sticking it to Devon (Bryton James) by stealing Abby (Melissa Ordway) away from him? Our point is, Elena is the Genoa City character currently exhibiting the most story potential. So why is Y&R falling down on the job?
