Danny Romalotti is stuck in quite a quandary on The Young and the Restless. On the one hand, there’s Christine, the one who got away. The ex-wife he never stopped loving. Alas, she is freshly off divorcing Paul Williams, which makes their renewed connection feel like a rebound. On the other hand, there’s Phyllis. The ex he never loved, the one who lied to him and manipulated him, and who now is acting even crazier and more deluded than usual. Which, for Phyllis, is really saying something. Which woman should Danny choose? How about…none of the above?
Danny Romalotti: Sing It Loud
There’s a third option that no one seems to be talking about, or even considering. There’s Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). Once upon a time, hideous Traci (she was a size 8 in a size 2 world, and we were supposed to believe that made her horrific and unlovable) crushed on rock star Danny (Michael Damian). She fought evil, scheming Lauren (Tracey Bregman) for him, in a battle of arena rock, shoulder pads, and very, very big hair.
Everything came to a head when Traci learned Danny and Lauren were engaged (look back on that story here). Traci popped multiple diet pills, got high, crashed her car, and suffered heart damage (of the real, not the metaphorical kind), then spoke up at one of Danny’s concerts to lecture fellow teens that, “Drugs are bad, m’kay?”
I Need a Hero
Danny, being an upstanding guy remained a good friend to Traci. When she got pregnant by her college professor and tried to commit suicide over it, Danny, once again, came to the rescue and married Traci. She lost the baby and had her marriage to Danny annulled. So, even though she’d married the guy she’d had a crush on for years, he never loved her. Not really. But, now could be a good time to change that.
Door Number Three
With neither Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) nor Christine (Lauralee Bell) looking like a sane option these days, why not consider Traci? She didn’t get away. She’s what could have been. How about taking the time to find out?
