The Young and the Restless viewers know that Chloe Fisher will do whatever she can for her family and friends. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Chloe’s portrayer, Elizabeth Hendrickson.
Elizabeth Hendrickson — Y&R Performer of the Week
This week, Chloe saved the day for Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) after a wedding dress snafu. Hendrickson had Chloe be all smiles when she and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) showed up at the brides’ apartment, to hand off the delayed gown.
The moment went by quickly, but its significance was huge. In her earlier daytime days, Hendrickson portrayed Maggie Stone on ABC’s now-defunct soap opera All My Children. Maggie was one-half of one of daytime’s first same-sex supercouples with Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel). It was a lovely full-circle point for the actress, who was part of a groundbreaking couple on soap operas.
Then, at the wedding, Hendrickson hit the right moves with Chloe as a dancing, fun-loving guest. She also played beautifully against Rikaart’s Kevin, who gave a beautiful speech to the brides. Chloe’s noting that a few years ago two women getting married wouldn’t even have been legal came across as a milestone statement for Y&R.
Finally, later in the week, Hendrickson did an excellent job showing off Chloe’s love for her mother, Esther Valentine (Kate Linder). Chloe has long felt exasperated, and sometimes embarrassed, by her mother, and the actress’s body language, facial expressions, and delivery conveyed that. However, we also appreciated seeing Chloe’s growth when she apologized to Esther for being ashamed of her. Hendrickson did a superb job showing off her character’s shame at her past behavior and change of heart.
