Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For Y&R: Allison Lanier

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Summer Newman Abbott will do whatever it takes to protect Kyle and Harrison — even if it means problems with her mother or for her marriage. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Summer’s portrayer, Allison Lanier.

Since Summer’s return from Italy, she’s had a bit of a softer side. It seemed motherhood had softened her a bit. However, she’s shown some of that old Summer spark, especially when she felt Harrison was in danger, and she realized she wasn’t saying how she really felt anymore.

This week, Summer finally let her feelings be known. Lanier did an excellent job of showing Summer’s frustration with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Jack (Peter Bergman), and Diane (Susan Walters), even without saying a word. Summer’s facial expressions and body language revealed her complete disgust and discomfort at Jack and Diane stealing from her grandmother.

Allison Lanier also showed some of Summer’s spine when she stood up to Kyle numerous times. She used a firm tone of voice along with some strong body language when Summer called Kyle out. While he didn’t always agree with her, Summer stood her ground, and Lanier’s choices as an actor really put that on display this week.

No doubt, all is not wine and roses for Kyle and Summer these days, and Lanier’s acting prowess has made that fact quite clear (even if Kyle is a bit slow to understand it). We can’t wait to see what happens next with this couple as they navigate this situation. Bravo Allison Lanier on an excellent performance. We hope to see many more in the future as this storyline continues to play out. We’re appreciating the mix of old Summer with a softer side.
