They’re finally back together, and Kyle put a ring on Summer’s finger, but the couple’s dream of a happily-ever-after could be in serious jeopardy on The Young and the Restless. The threat to their pending joy is an adorable 3-year-old. Namely, Kyle’s son, Harrison, who could destroy his engagement.
Summer Wants Kyle’s Attention on The Young and the Restless
When Kyle (Michael Mealor) first fessed up to Summer (Hunter King) about his love child with Tara (Elizabeth Leiner), she was supportive and stuck by his side. The tyke was living with his mom and Ashland (Richard Burgi), and she knew he wouldn’t be a minor, let alone a major, intrusion on their lives.
That was the perfect scenario for Summer, who’s always been on the possessive side when it comes to Kyle. Sharing really isn’t in her DNA, and, initially, she didn’t have to. Having Harrison now living in Genoa City will be a huge adjustment. Suddenly, Summer won’t be the center of Kyle’s world, and he’ll be dividing his time between her and his son. It could cause a strain on what had been a strictly one-on-one relationship.
A Package Deal
Harrison won’t be the only person Summer will have to share Kyle with. There’s also his mother, Tara. The boy ties her and Kyle together, and with her marriage to Ashland pretty much over, she might look to rekindle things with her ex-lover.
While Kyle’s getting to know his son for the first time, he could fall easy prey to Tara. She could manipulate the situation to spend more time with him, leading to a rift between him and Summer. Add Ashland’s threatening presence to the mix and Kyle’s desire to protect his son and baby mama, and it could be a recipe for disaster for Summer and Kyle.
Parental Interference
Nick (Joshua Morrow) has had some issues with Kyle marrying his daughter, believing he might break Summer’s heart as he has in the past. The Harrison situation will surely only serve to fuel Nick’s concerns as a protective father.
He might even use the situation to try to talk some sense into Summer, make her realize that the baggage from Kyle’s past is too much to deal with and that she deserves better. If Nick can get through to Summer, she might eventually decide to walk away from Kyle and seek out an easier, simpler relationship. Can their love survive? Stay tuned.
