Young and the Restless Nate and Imani
Why is Imani Benedict obsessed with Nate Hastings on The Young and the Restless? Imani is beautiful, rich, cultured, poised, and, presumably intelligent — as she managed to become a full-fledged lawyer during a commercial break. Now, we’re not saying Nate isn’t a catch.
He’s good-looking, upper-middle-class, a doctor, and presumably intelligent — as not only is he a doctor, but he managed to become a business maven during a commercial break. But he’s also already been caught. By Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). Why in the world does someone like Imani (Leigh Ann Rose) need to go after another woman’s man?
Though no one in Genoa City would ever flat out say it, it seems clear that Y&R thinks there are only two possible romantic interests for Imani. There’s Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) — but he’s currently living with Imani’s sister, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). And there’s Nate (Sean Dominic). He’s living with Elena (Brytni Sarpy). But Elena isn’t Imani’s sister. So, obviously, he’s the guy Imani should be making a play for.
But there’s a lot to not recommend about Nate. Remember how he and Elena first got together? They had sex at the clinic while she was still involved with Devon. Why would you want to be with a guy who is comfortable with cheating, Imani? And now, he’s not even the dashing doctor he used to be. He’s sold out. He’s gone corporate. And those guys are a dime a dozen.
Just because Y&R thinks you should be limited to Nate and/or Devon, doesn’t mean Imani should listen. Does Imani seem like the type who ever listens? Look around, see who’s available. Don’t limit yourself. Think big. Think Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). Think Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow). Think Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). You have as much right as anyone!
