It’s Way Past Time To Give Elena Dawson A Young and the Restless Story

Suddenly Dr. Nate Hastings is the man of the hour on The Young and the Restless. However, his sudden inclusion in several storylines draws attention to the fact that Elena Dawson seriously lacks her own arc. We want to see the soap do better writing for Elena.

The Young and the Restless is Wasting Brytni Sarpy

Another day, another time watching Elena (Brytni Sarpy) sit around and drink something at a table. This time she was with Nate (Sean Dominic), Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). She barely said anything in the scenes except to praise Dominic’s parents and affirm that she supports Nate’s big job change decision.

Recently, we’ve watched her discuss the terrible lamps in Nate’s place and other random domestic items. It’s been ages since she’s had her own storyline, and at this point, she seems barely more than a glorified speaking extra — which is a shame.

The last real storyline we remember Elena having on The Young and the Restless is when she and Nate slept together at the clinic, and she spent weeks trying to figure out what to do. At first, she wasn’t too sold on Nate, and she even lived with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) above Crimson Lights. It wasn’t the best storyline in the world, but it was something.

Before that, she lived with Devon, and she was working on finishing her education while dealing with her ailing grandfather. We can’t understand why the show hasn’t included something more dynamic than having her just sit around eating or drinking while talking to Nate. The most life we’ve seen from her was when Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) flirted with Nate in front of her, but that went nowhere.

It’s time to branch out and get Elena involved in something dramatic. Sarpy is an excellent actress, and the show is wasting her talent and an interesting character in Elena.
