The Young and the Restless Abbott family pride themselves on being a close-knit brood (well, except for Keemo). Jack Abbott, especially, prides himself on being there for his kin (well, except Keemo) every chance he can get, as do his siblings. So, why, oh why aren’t they there for Abby Abbott-Newman Chancellor during her very obvious and devastating time of need?
Young and the Restless: Family Matter, Right?
Poor Abby (Melissa Ordway) could use all the support she can get right now. Her husband is basically MIA while on his mission, everyone close to her at this moment is suffering their share of heartbreak over Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) kidnapping, and her shoulder to lean on is an ex. A very suspicious ex, at that. What Abby needs are people who are there just for her. You know, like her family.
Y&R: Busy Little Bees
While we understand Jack (Peter Bergman) taking a day to fly to Italy with Harrison Locke, we don’t understand why he and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) took an entire afternoon to read and chat about her upcoming book when Abby is in such distress. Could that not have waited until after a trip to comfort their niece? Or, you know, after Abby’s babymaker and bundle of joy were home safe and sound?
Billy Abbott (Jason Thomspon) runs a huge media company. Why is he not running story after story looking for Abby’s missing surrogate, and the person who took her? What a huge platform wasted while Billy chases dirt on Ashland Locke. Seems rather odd, doesn’t it?
Even more, is Abby’s mother isn’t even present for any of this. Is Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) life in Paris that much more important than standing with her only child while awaiting word on her only grandchild? Talk about the mother of all disappointments.
Young and Restless: Time To Step Up
Don’t get us wrong, we’re not saying the Newman family is much better but at least Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is looped in and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is hunting down Mariah’s kidnapper. Could Nick, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) check in a lot more? Yes, of course. But they aren’t known for doling out warm fuzzies. That’s something that is on-brand for the Abbotts! And yet….
We hope to see a big change in the next couple of days as things really come to a head. If Abby can’t have her husband by her side, she should at least get her family. Drop what you’re doing, Abbotts, you have a family member who needs you.
