Abby Newman And Devon Hamilton Need Some Y&R Drama To Be Interesting

We admit it — we don’t get Abby Newman Abbott and Devon Hamilton’s relationship on The Young and the Restless. Not in real-world terms, but in soap opera ones. In real-world terms, we totally understand a couple of friends realizing they have feelings for each other — especially now that they share a child — and deciding to give romance — and family — a try. But in soap opera terms, we’re asking: Where’s the drama? Everything looks to be smooth sailing for Abby and Devon and wee Dominic, too. What’s going to make them interesting enough to watch on the daily? We have three suggestions to spice things up.

Abby Newman Papa Drama

We’re still waiting for the reveal that Devon (Bryton James) isn’t Dominic’s biological father. Sure, he loves the idea of being with her now. But will he feel the same if the main reason for them spending so much time together is suddenly removed? Devon wants to be with Abby (Melissa Ordway)…and Dominic. Would he want her as much if they weren’t a package deal?

Y&R Mama Drama

And then there’s Devon’s own father, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). He has big plans for Abby’s mother, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). He claims they’re good. We suspect they’re not. If Devon and Abby agree on everything concerning their little family, conflict can come in their dealings with Tucker and Ashley.

If Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) can come between Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier), then Ashley and Tucker can do the same for Abby and Devon.

Young and the Restless Ex-Treme

Abby’s last ex-husband, Stitch, was so obsessed with Abby that he kidnapped her surrogate and kept Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) prisoner for weeks. So we know Abby has that effect on people. And mental health has been a challenge for her current ex-husband-to-be, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) ever since he returned from the dead. Maybe Chance will cause trouble for the new couple. We’ll take anything at this point. Just give us a reason to care!
