A Critic’s Review Of The Young and the Restless: Uber Talent Highlight & Kudos

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers HIS Take

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tucker’s (Trevor St. John) wedding was so…so…them, and I can appreciate that. However, the scene that truly gave me life was Traci’s (Beth Maitland) later excoriation of Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters)…and that begs the question, why is über talent Maitland being so purposefully wasted?

And, speaking of the aftermath of Ashley and Tucker’s wedding, is that really it as far as the Ashley/Tucker vs. Jack goes? If so, what a letdown. Then again, it’s pretty par for the course where Y&R storylines are concerned. Why bring a plot to a climatic crescendo when it can just inorganically peter out?

Further Y&R Musings

* I’ve been fairly vocal about my dislike of Victor (Eric Braeden) and my fervent desire to see the one-note character rested, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t actually feel something for the old coot as he wrestled with whether or not to finally cut off his youngest son. All the kudos to Braeden!

* Kyle (Michael Mealor)…KYLE, of all people, is the one to play Svengali to Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver)? Make it make sense!

* Wouldn’t it have behooved Sharon (Sharon Case) to point out to Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) that Adam (Mark Grossman) being in “every aspect of his life” is much more HIS fault than Adam’s? I mean, it was Nicholas who purposefully pursued Adam’s lady love — in this instance Sally (Courtney Hope), though I do understand the confusion — and it was Nicholas who decided to acquiesce to Daddy’s desire that his sons work together at McCall Unlimited-cum-Adustus-cum-SNA Media. [And let’s not forget Nicholas is raising Adam’s biological son and his daughter has a kidney thanks to Adam.]
