When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers HIS Take

So, Victor (Eric Braeden) is faking his mental decline in order to suss out which of his offspring is prepared to take a shot at him. I actually didn’t see that one coming, so convinced was I that Josh Griffith was persevering in telling his own Succession-lite storyline.

And while I appreciate the twist, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to derive any pleasure from this show’s unceasing insistence on having the Newman siblings (and Sally and Sharon) blaming Adam (Mark Grossman) for every wrong, every injustice, and every mild inconvenience that comes their way. At this point, what isn’t Adam responsible for? Is it any wonder he wants to blow them all to Hell?

Y&R Musings

* I’m not sure about you good people, but I’m currently at a loss as to what could have possibly precipitated an alliance between Mamie (Veronica Redd) and Tucker (Trevor St. John).

* Though I was more than willing to throw my all behind a Daniel/Lily reunion, I’m not as enamored of the idea of a full-blown Lily/Daniel/Heather love triangle which seems to be exactly where Y&R is heading.

* While Jack and Diane’s vow renewal was decidedly lacking anything resembling high-stakes drama (remember Y&R used to be all about high-stakes drama?), I can’t say that I wasn’t at least thoroughly entertained by the snarky commentary provided by Nikki at the start of the festivities as well as her subsequently catty one-on-one with the bride and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) putting her in her place.
