When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.
You know, I want to be Team Witches of the Midwest or whatever the soapverse has dubbed the triumvirate that is Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), I really, really do.
I know that The Young and the Restless has perfectly positioned Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) as the villain of this piece and that I should want to see her run out of Genoa City on a rail, but I just…I don’t. And I’m not on Phyllis/Ashley/and Nikki’s side.
Here’s an idea for my favorite ladies: state your concerns, make them well known, and let the chips fall where they may. If Diane winds up falling back on old, bad habits then let her do so – but let her do it on her own.
Forcing Diane to go on the defensive is only going to serve to make her look like the victim and her detractors’ hypocritical aggressors. Or at least that is how it would go in the real world. Who knows. Maybe in the reel world of The Young and the Restless, it’ll all work out in the end. Doubtful. But possible.
* If I can’t interest Young and the Restless head honcho Josh Griffith in taking the suggestion above, here’s another: let the REAL Phyllis – the one who likes to run people over and menace them with cephalopods – come out and play.
* Here be another group that I have no interest in or time for: the Chancellor/Winters crew. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) are BOTH just awful.
Yes, I believe that Devon is still holding a grudge against Nate, and yes, I believe that Nate is overly sensitive and reading way too much into what Devon says/suggests. Neither man is necessarily wrong in their conviction, but they both need to grow up and start acting like professionals.
* Here’s hoping that there will actually be a modicum of drama wrung out of Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) continued investigation into Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) supposed car accident. Given the tepid exchange had by Chance and his Mrs., I’m not holding out much hope.
* So, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) wants a detailed accounting of the night Ashland died penned and saved to the cloud – or server, or whatever – with the intention of only publishing when absolutely necessary, huh?
Now, where have I seen a similar story…oh yes, The Young and the Restless already did this one with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and his missive about Ashland. Really reaching for inspiration, aren’t we?
