A Critic’s Review of The Young and the Restless
 Comments

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Where is the drama? Where is the point? We’ve been searching for both, but we’ve come up empty. When it comes to Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) litany of lies, it seems that most everybody is up to speed, and they all have the same information. So, what will Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) dragging Jesse Gaines (Jamison Jones) to Tuscany accomplish?

In our book, the answer is a big fat nothing. The dirt that the men are planning to spill is already known to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) is already suspicious of his would-be-brother-in-law, so Billy’s stunt will only serve to strengthen that feeling.

If anything, the public outing of Ashland’s crime(s) might make Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) – The Young and the Restless’ most boring couple – leery of making any new couple friends, which is a lesson everyone’s got to learn sometime or another.

Further Y&R Musings

* What is Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) story building to? Are we soon to see him fall in love with Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), which will set the scene for a Devon/Abby/Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) triangle? Is he going to catch baby fever ala Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and demand that he and Amanda start a family posthaste? And will the whole thing play out off-screen much like Naya Benedict’s (Ptosha Storey) medical malady? And speaking of off-screen developments…

* Has The Young and the Restless ever heard of fan service? They know they have a much-beloved couple on their hands with Summer Newman Abbott (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), and yet they chose to forgo showing the Skyle wedding, and instead have the couple pop in to sit in chairs and watch Victoria and Ashland say, “I do?” Talk about a slap in the face.

* Loneliest Hot Guy: Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
