A Critic’s Review Of The Young and the Restless: Megalomania & Movies References

The author’s opinions on Y&R are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers HIS Take

I may be a bit dense here, but I’m really not understanding Victor’s (Eric Braeden) endgame. He’s faking dementia to uncover which of his children are going to…what, exactly? Call a meeting to oust him from Newman Enterprises? Try to have a top neurologist see him? Aren’t those the actions that any normal brood of a megalomaniac experiences signs and symptoms of memory loss would undertake? How, exactly, is that “disloyalty” to the crown?

Further Y&R Musings

* I’m not sure if Josh Griffith’s expressed goal has been to make Kyle (Michael Mealor) as unlikeable as humanly possible, but if so, then the goal has been achieved!

* Lily (Christel Khalil) and Daniel (Michael Graziadei), in the same building, what could possibly go wrong? That said, I’m REALLY hoping that the building will soon play host to Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Heather (Vail Bloom). All of them in the same building. Can you fathom the juicy possibilities?

Speaking of Phyllis, I’m really struggling to understand how Danny (Michael Damian) can stand to be in the same room with her, let alone allow her to drag him to the park like a little puppy dog. I get that time heals old wounds and all that, but come on!

* Oh, I appreciated Audra (Zuleyka Silver) comparing Claire Grace’s (Hayley Erin) “infiltration” of Newman Media to All About Eve. Equally entertaining was Audra’s face-off with Phyllis. It most definitely takes a predator to know a predator.

I also derived some (sick?) pleasure from Tucker’s (Trevor St. John) pointed “for now” in response to Phyllis’s “We have an understanding now, yes?” Who doesn’t love a good implied threat?

* Top Job To Have In Genoa City: Glass Maker
