When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.
Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) scheme no doubt rankles — not the least of which is because I had to listen to Ole Red excoriate Diane (Susan Walters) ad nauseam for committing the exact same sin that she is perpetuating — but the irony [which is either delicious or satirical in the worst way; I’m still trying to decide] is most decidedly not lost and the plot has wrung some majorly boffo performances from the likes of Allison Lanier [Summer Newman], Michael Graziadei [Daniel Romalotti], Christian Le Blanc [Michael Baldwin], and Tracey Bregman [Lauren Fenmore Baldwin].
I’ll also commend any storyline that further propels Daniel and Lily (Christel Khalil) out of the friend zone and back into “loving couple” status and keeps Danny (Michael Damian) on my screen. Heck, I’m even appreciating seeing more of Christine (Lauralee Bell) as I’ve always enjoyed her when she has a caper to immerse herself in or a metaphorical dragon to slay. [Actually, those really are the only times I’ve been able to enjoy her, but that’s my problem and is really neither here nor there.]
And the fact that it’s Christine AKA The Bug who’s tasked with finding some justice for her most hated foe? Now that’s some irony I can really get behind…even if, as of the night before her convo with Chance (Conner Floyd), she was unemployed and only mulling over an offer to serve as interim D.A.
* Is it just me, or was the sight of the Athletic Club employees still standing around clacking away on their tablets clearly unmoved and unimpressed by the shenanigans unfolding around them kind of distracting from the ACTING going on in that room?
* Loath as I am to give her a compliment, I’m SO glad to finally see Victoria Newman (Ameila Heinle) assert her authority as Newman Enterprise’s CEO and veto one of Victor’s (Eric Braeden) hair-brained schemes.
* Now that Abby (Melissa Ordway) is poised to move herself and Dominic into Devon’s (Bryton James) penthouse and Chance doesn’t seem at all enthused by the idea of moving back into his rightful home, I can’t help but fear that we have seen the last of the iconic Chancellor mansion set…not that The Young and the Restless has actually shown it the reverence that it deserves these past few years.
