On The Young and the Restless, Chelsea Lawson recently returned to Genoa City a changed woman. Supposedly she went to therapy and got everything straight in her life. However, her obsession with reuniting with her ex, Adam Newman, rings alarm bells.
While Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) claims to be fully healed from her head injury and her belief that Adam (Mark Grossman) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) had something going on, her actions don’t seem to support that. Instead of Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) trying to manipulate Adam and Chelsea into getting back together, she’s the one using their son as a reason to reunite.
Chelsea seemed like a new woman. She talked to Sharon and even her ex-in-laws in what appeared to be healthy ways when she first got back to town. However, her continued attempts to force a reunion with Adam have us scratching our heads. We can’t buy that any counselor would sign off on Chelsea and Adam’s relationship after everything that’s happened.
When Chelsea insisted Adam come to the penthouse on New Year’s Eve, Adam pulled no punches when he told Chelsea why they shouldn’t reunite. He was right. They’ve caused each other endless amounts of emotional and physical pain at this point. Their relationship was dysfunctional at best.
Chelsea continuing to try and reunite with Adam on The Young and the Restless doesn’t strike us as the picture of a newly emotionally healthy woman. Her sneaking around, spying on Adam and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), isn’t exactly the actions of somebody who’s well-adjusted. Drinking alone on NYE in despair can’t be good either.
Chelsea’s actions seem so desperate and off that we even question if she truly received therapy. Surely somebody — Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) or Adam — checked into everything Chelsea said about her time away. However, we wonder if perhaps Chelsea made everything up. Maybe she’s not as fully healed as she wants everybody to believe. If that’s the case, Adam, Sally, and the rest of Genoa City could be in danger in the coming weeks and months.
