The Young and the Restless continues to sacrifice characters to the community baby storyline. The latest character offered up is Amanda Sinclair. Although she helped Devon Hamilton with the original agreement with Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor, Amanda is suddenly pushing Devon to change the contract legally.

Amanda Doesn’t Make Sense on The Young and the Restless

Devon (Bryton James) agreed to be the donor for Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) baby. He had Amanda (Mishael Morgan) help advise him on the legal aspects of the donation. As a lawyer, Amanda guided her client, who was also her boyfriend, through creating a contract.

Because of Amanda’s original involvement, we’re confused about why she’s pushing Devon so hard, even though he says he doesn’t want to rock the boat with a legal challenge. Amanda even went so far as to insinuate that Devon may have legal rights because Chance didn’t sign the contract. She also encouraged her boyfriend to consider suing for rights similar to those given to grandparents. This idea seems implausible at best. Devon signed the contract with his eyes wide open.

Don’t Rock the Boat

On The Young and the Restless, Abby told Devon that she and Chance weren’t willing to amend the contract. While not entirely happy with the Chancellors’ decision, Devon seems somewhat content to continue with the way things are. In the end, he wants what’s best for baby Dominic. Abby, the baby’s mom, feels that’s living full-time at the Chancellor mansion with her and Chance, so that’s what Devon will do.

However, Amanda pushing the issue, based in part on her past, keeps Devon upset. He’s unable to make peace with his decision, which seems destined to further heartache for the billionaire. We don’t buy that Amanda truly wants to cause Devon more suffering. Her behavior doesn’t make much sense, so this current writing is not serving her character well.
