Billy Abbott knows he’s The Young and the Restless screw-up. In point of fact, he takes pride in it. Remember the whole I Chew Gum So Now I am Evil Period? And the gambling? And the cheating on Victoria Newman? And the business failures? Yeah, if that was our past, we’d have a tough time sleeping, too.

Nonetheless, Billy (Jason Thompson) has convinced himself that he’s all better now. He has Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) for copious couch sex. He has a job he can pretend to do in between having copious couch sex. And because he pulled the plug on his vague revenge plot against Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), Billy can pretend that he would have outsmarted – he just didn’t even need to bother. Are you kidding, 42% of you chortle? The reason Billy can’t sleep is because he knows the minute he stops doing something – anything – he’ll be forced to face all of his obvious life’s failures.
