When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Is anyone else still experiencing whiplash from Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) sudden about-face re: starting a family with Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes)? Is she really that bummed out that Mariah is bummed out? Should two bummed out people even try for a baby? How about a spot of counseling – from someone who isn’t Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) – before any major life decisions are made, okay you two wild and crazy kids.

Also, if The Young and the Restless is truly gearing up for a Noah Newman (Rory Gibson), Tessa, Mariah love triangle, they had better stop it right now. This show has spent 2021 telling tone deaf storyline after tone deaf storyline, and forcing a brother and sister to fight for the affections of a woman who identifies as a lesbian, and who has all ready cheated on the brother with the sister might just be the most tone deaf thing of all.

Further Y&R Musing

* Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) is back in Genoa City – YAY! – and  with her return comes a plethora of inherent drama…but will Y&R rise to the occasion and actually explore it, or will it sit on the vine and die?

* Is there still a bidding war for ChancComm, or is Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) the victor?

* Will The Young and the Restless ever again have a scene featuring Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) that doesn’t wind up becoming all about Dominic?

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
