We totally get The Bold and the Beautiful needing to find a new direction for Paris now that she’s helped spill the tea on one of the show’s biggest secrets (Carter and Quinn were having an affair). Paris’s portrayer, Diamond White, is a dynamic actress and singer who is a welcome addition to the show’s cast.
But is having the Forrester Foundation director move in with new parents Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan), her daughter Kelly, and newborn Hayes the right move? Maybe not.
The best thing that can be said about this development is that everyone involved is calling it temporary. But why is it happening at all? We saw that Steffy and Finn were getting used to their new lives as parents of a newborn. Paris proved to be a godsend when she showed up to discuss Forrester Foundation business with Steffy by bringing some fish tacos from one of the duo’s favorite Malibu eateries (which apparently isn’t affiliated with Uber Eats or DoorDash). “We’ve been so swamped we haven’t even had a chance to eat yet!” shared Steffy.
Paris kept the pair from going hungry, apparently, and later, she soothed a fussy Hayes with a lullaby. She mentioned that she’d been living alone in a hotel since her sister Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) left town to go live on Fantasy Island in Paris.
Paris added that she had to close up Zoe’s apartment, move out, and find a place of her own which would be difficult since L.A. is so expensive. Well, it sure is but let’s back up a bit. Couldn’t Paris stay exactly where she was and simply extend or take over Zoe’s lease on the apartment? How expensive could be it since Zoe didn’t always have a regular job during her stay in Los Angeles?
Next, Paris said she feels like a “vagabond living with my life in the trunk of my car.” Steffy’s response was “Seriously?” Frankly, it’s ours, too. Paris is in charge of the Forrester Foundation that’s connected to Forrester Creations, a lucrative worldwide fashion house.
According to salary.com, the average annual salary for a Foundation Director in California is approximately $167,000. (That’s a lot of tacos!) It’s also more than enough money for Paris to find a place on the Westside of Los Angeles (her desired locale), Beverly Hills (which would be close to work), or pretty much anywhere in Los Angeles.
Realtors help people find not only homes but rental units as well. If Paris is too busy to look, she could hire a realtor or other agent to help locate a place. Another thing that doesn’t make sense about Steffy and Finn inviting Paris to live with them is that it wasn’t really Steffy and Finn doing the asking – Steffy extended the invitation without even consulting her fiancé. Sure, the good doctor chimed in that he supported the idea but don’t most couples usually talk about that type of stuff in private first?
The new Bold and the Beautiful parents have made it clear that they’re inviting Paris to live with them as a guest – not a live-in nanny despite how good the childless Paris is with kids. Steffy has said she’s headed back to work soon, so perhaps the room Paris is occupying should be held in reserve for some live-in childcare help?
It’s odd that Steffy would invite Paris to live with her given who her father is. The new mom was hardly thrilled when Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) brought Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden) over to meet baby Hayes. That’s because Flo was an accessory after the fact to Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) – Paris’s father — selling her Hope Logan Spencer’s (Annika Noelle) baby. Sure, Paris wasn’t even in town when her dad pulled that illegal act but why would Steffy want the daughter of the man who caused her so much pain living with her and her family – even temporarily?
We saw that Steffy extended the invitation to Paris not really for financial reasons but rather for emotional ones; she sees that Paris is lonely with Zoe being gone. (Maybe Paris wouldn’t be missing her sister so much if she knew about Zoe’s special smoothie recipe that’s guaranteed to ruin your romantic evening!)
We get that Paris needed a new base of operations but there were options other than moving way out to Malibu (that’ll be some commute for Paris when she heads off to Forrester Creations each day). Maybe Zende (Delon de Metz) could have invited Paris to say with him – even platonically?
Also, Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) could have invited her to stay at her mansion? She’s certainly grateful to Paris for confirming her suspicions about Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer). Another option would have been for Eric Forrester (John McCook) to ask Paris if she wanted to stay in the Forrester guest house? It’s closer to work and bonus: no crying babies!
Instead, Paris is living with a young couple madly in love who have already made one baby and will probably be busy practicing on making another one. How long will Paris be living with Steffy and Finn? Stay tuned to find out!
