The Bold and the Beautiful has always been grounded in reality. It hasn’t delved into stories involving science fiction, time travel, psychic phenomenon, or secret agents as other soaps have done. However, the half-hour show has been known to bring a character or two back from the dead.
Over the years, BB viewers have seen both Taylor (Hunter Tylo) and Macy (Bobbie Eakes) return from the great beyond. Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) whisked Taylor out of her hospital room and kept her as his, er, “guest” in Morocco until she escaped. Meanwhile, Macy presumably died in a tanker explosion. She popped up alive a few years later in Italy — only to die again when a chandelier fell on her.
Would BB fans like to see Macy or another character return from the dead? Soap Hub polled BB fans to get their thoughts on this topic.
The majority of you, 65%, are okay with the dead staying dead. If too many are brought back from that great soap in the sky, audiences find it more difficult to truly mourn the loss of a beloved character. Audiences don’t make investments lightly. If a character passes away, it should mean something and, in most cases, be permanent.
However, if BB were to pull the Lazarus bit with a character, Stephanie (Susan Flannery) was the one who received the most support with 23% of your vote. Maybe Steph faked her death and left the country to get some experimental treatment.
Imagine how the Forrester matriarch would react to Eric (John McCook) moving on to a new life with Quinn (Rena Sofer)? It’s a good thing Eric has hung onto Steph’s portrait; he might need it someday!
The late Aly (Ashlyn Pearce) came in second with about 5.5% of your vote. Thorne (Winsor Harmon) returned to Los Angeles upon the death of his daughter, who died while fighting with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). But he didn’t stay long…hmm. His next trip to LA was relatively short, too. Thorne (then-Ingo Rademacher) married Katie (Heather Tom), but then abruptly ended the marriage and returned to Europe. Did Thorne whisk an alive Aly away to get help for her emotional issues?
Macy came in third with just under 5.5% of your vote. Viewers were told Macy died after she was struck by a falling chandelier. Is it possible her mother Sally (Darlene Conley) only told everyone that Macy had flatlined? Maybe she brought her daughter to Europe, where Sally currently resides, to get some treatment? Macy’s return could give Spectra Fashions a third life!
Whether any or all of these three come back to the show someday or not is unclear. But one thing is for certain. The trio will remain in the memories of BB fans forever! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
