They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this baseball-playing youth grew up to be?
Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He’s appeared in a martial arts drama film. He is a soap hopper. He participated in a televised dance competition. He is a published author. He wrote the script and executive produced a feature film. And he is the creator and executive producer of a serial being distributed by Amazon Prime Video.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon Sharpe, BB), Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady Black, DAYS), Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, GH), or Thad Luckinbill (ex-J.T. Hellstrom, YR)?
Lowder has appeared in both DAYS and BB (ex-Rick Forrester) and he is the executive producer of the Amazon Prime series Ladies of the Lake and its sequel Return to Avalon. However, he never starred in a film depicting the practice of martial arts nor did he participate in a dance competition.
Burton is most certainly a soap hopper, owing to his roles in DAYS (ex-Harris Michaels), GH, and YR (ex-Dylan McAvoy). And he did write the script for a 2005 film titled Laws of Gambling. But unlike today’s featured star, Burton hasn’t published a book nor has he competed in a dance-off or created an exclusive-to-the-web soap.
Though Luckinbill is an executive producer of some renown, he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query. He’s only appeared in one daily soap, and he isn’t a published author yet nor a competitor in a dance competition.
At the age of 23, Kanan – then a nascent thespian – netted his first notable role thanks to the casting director of the film (The) Karate Kid Part III. Off that success, he subsequently appeared in movies such as Rich Girl, Hot Shots!, and The Chaos Factor and TV shows like GH (ex-A.J. Quartermaine), Sunset Beach (ex-Jude Cavanaugh), BB/YR (ex-Deacon Sharpe).
Kanan has competed in the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars, written and executive-produced the DJ Qualls starring film Chasing Holden, and authored two books – The Modern Gentleman: Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan and Success Factor X.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Sean Kanan – the creator and executive producer of Amazon Prime Video’s Studio City – then you were absolutely correct!
