The Bold and the Beautiful Pays Emotional Tribute To Betty White

Today would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday. Tributes are still flowing for the television icon who died on December 31 — a few weeks before the centennial anniversary of her birth. The Bold and the Beautiful joined in on the celebration as White played a pivotal role on the show.

The Bold and the Beautiful Honors Betty White

B&B both dedicated today’s episode to Betty White — who recurred on the show as Ann Douglas, mother to Stephanie (Susan Flannery) and Pam (Alley Mills) — and paid tribute to White on its social media account.

“On what would have been her 100th birthday, here is a heartfelt look back at Betty White’s joyful presence and remarkable talent as Ann Douglas on The Bold and the Beautiful,” read a statement on B&B’s Twitter account. “Betty was as Bold and Beautiful as they come, and will forever be in our hearts.”

Devotees of the beloved star are aware of the actress’s lifelong devotion to our four-legged friends. The #BettyWhiteChallenge hashtag has made the rounds on social media. It invites her supporters to make a monetary donation in White’s name at their local pet shelter.

At least one former B&B star wholeheartedly approves of this idea. “I’m in!” declared The Young and the Restless’s Eileen Davidson, who brought her character Ashley Abbott over to B&B for a bit starting in 2007.

Betty White Helped B&B Tell Powerful Tales

Betty White played out two of B&B’s most powerful storylines that involved social issues. In the first tale, Stephanie confronted Ann over her silence when Steph was a child and her father beat her. The two women ultimately shared a reunion. White’s next story came a few years later when a terminally ill Ann requested that she die on her own terms. She passed away at the beach, looking out onto the ocean with Stephanie and Pam by her side.

Also, NBC will air Celebrating Betty White: America’s Golden Girl on Monday, January 31 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. The special will stream on peacock the following day. Friends and stars will pay tribute to America’s comedy sweetheart in the special. The hour will include clips that best capture White’s irreverent tone, spirit, and impeccable comedic timing that are a hallmark of her decades-long career.

The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Los Angeles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on B&B spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
