Soap operas have often delved into science fiction and horror, with a few shows over the years having real horror roots, like Passions or Dark Shadows. The Bold and the Beautiful has attempted to stay more grounded in reality than those shows, but if star Annika Noelle had her way, things would be different. The portrayer of Hope Logan recently opened up about the genre-bending she’d like to see the show engage in.

Hope Needs To Make Up Her Mind

In an interview with Soaps, Noelle was first asked what superpower Hope should have. Ultimately, “confidence” or “belief in yourself” was what she chose. She contemplated the waffling her character has done when it comes to men like Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), and remarked, “I hope she finds that strength and just makes up her own damn mind, follows through, whatever it is, good or bad.”

She was then posed with the question of which soap she would join if she could travel through time. “First of all, the 80s,” she said, elaborating, “No-brainer, because that was the height, I feel like, of [soap opera popularity].” She cited Passions as a show she’d like to join and further stated, “I want crazy. I want to be bit by a vampire.”

Once Bitten

Noelle recalled that her current co-star, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge), appeared on the General Hospital spinoff, Port Charles, which was rife with supernatural elements. She reiterated that having Hope bitten would be fun, and added, “But I also want to have my ex-lover from Spain show up while I’m getting romanced by a vampire who’s going to turn me into a vampire queen or just whatever.”

Noelle would love to see “the most soapy, supernatural goodness” on B&B. She cited Buffy the Vampire Slayer as one of her favorites, and when the interviewer mentioned iconic gothic soap Dark Shadows, Noelle also gushed about the current comedy series, What We Do in the Shadows. “I  love it so much. Good things,” she remarked. (Learn why Noelle believes Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) is Hope’s perfect match.)
