Soap Opera Veteran Ted King Celebrates His Birthday

Fans have been rejoicing to have Ted King back on a daytime drama, and he remains ever busy. A true feat worthy of celebration…as is the special milestone that he is soon to acknowledge.

Happy Birthday, Ted King

And that’s because he was born on October 1, 1965, in Hollywood, California, which means that this talented actor is turning 58 years old today! King made his professional debut in the 1985 made-for-television film The Midnight Hour.

Afterward, he appeared in an episode of the military drama Tour of Duty before joining the cast of Another World. After a brief stint on the NBC soap (where he played Ron Nettles), King landed a starring role on the ABC serial Loving.

When that program was canceled and retooled into another (short-lived) series titled The City, King continued his portrayal of Danny Roberts. After that, he nabbed the starring role in a science fiction show Timecop. The series, however, was canceled after one low-rated season.

Next, King guest-starred on Dawson’s Creek and then he joined the inaugural cast of Aaron Spelling’s supernatural fantasy drama Charmed. For the entirety of that show’s first season, King starred as the de-facto male lead (and love interest of Shannen Doherty’s character, Pru Halliwell).

Following a decision to nix King’s character – who sacrificed himself so that the Halliwell spellcasters could vanquish a particularly fearsome foe – the actor eventually landed a part on General Hospital.

For one year, King played Luis Alcazar, a career criminal obsessed with model Brenda Barrett. Following the character’s murder, King remained on the soap for a further five years after originating the role of Luis’s identical twin brother Lorenzo.

King’s other acting credits include episodes The Division, CSI: Miami, and Elementary, recurring roles in shows like Prison Break and One Life to Live, and feature films like The X Files: Fight the Future, Blade, and the Lifetime original Unwanted Guest. This year saw his return to daytime as Jack Finnegan on The Bold and the Beautiful, where he plays the father of John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).

King has been married to Maya Rodwell since September 2008. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Ava Celeste, on October 15, 2010. In his spare time, King actively raises money (and awareness) for multiple charitable organizations including The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
