Is Sheila Really Dead? Kimberlin Brown and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood Speak Out

You thought Stephanie and Brooke didn’t get along? The mother-in-law from hell, Sheila Carter, finally met her maker this week on The Bold and the Beautiful when Steffy took a knife to her husband’s mother and put her reign of terror to an end.

Kimberlin Brown: What’s Next?

Sheila and Steffy have tussled before. In fact, a few years ago, Sheila shot not only Finn (Tanner Novlan) but also Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) in the alley behind Il Giardino. Sheila miraculously got off on a technicality, but that only made Steffy more on guard. After a coincidental meeting between Sheila and Steffy’s daughter Kelly, Steffy’s guard went up. She went off on the gunt-toting psycho, which only made matters worse. Yesterday, Sheila tried to kill her daughter-in-law but ended up dead herself.

“I guess if anyone were going to take Sheila down, I’m happy it’s Steffy,” Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) told TV Insider. “I just wish that no one was taking Sheila down. It’s my happy place, where I have been so blessed to be for over 35 years. But I’ve had a good run at it, so I’m one of the lucky ones; there’s no doubt about it.”

“Well, it’s bittersweet because I absolutely love working with Kimberlin,” Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) added, “she is just the consummate professional. She elevates every scene, and she’s so creative. For Steffy, hallelujah! This is her moment. How long has it taken Steffy to take her down it’s finally happening, so it’s going to be a big shock.”

Is Steffy Really Guilty of Killing Sheila?

But is Sheila truly, most sincerely dead? Sure, we saw her cold, dead, open eyes at the end of the climatic episode, but let’s not forget Sheila (or “Sheila”) has cheated death in the past. Back in 1995, she took some poison after holding the Forresters and James Warwick (Ian Buchanan) at gunpoint in the Forrester living room. We learned later that Sheila’s stomach was pumped, and she was incarcerated in an institution.

B&B’s not the only show on which Sheila has died, either. She cheated the Grim Reaper not once but twice on The Young and the Restless, the show on which she began playing the naughty nurse back in 1990. In 1992, Sheila was believed to have been killed when a farmhouse she was keeping Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and her mother Molly (Marilyn Alex) captive in went up in smoke.

Don’t Count Out Sheila

Years later, Lauren shot and killed Sheila when it was revealed that she’d undergone plastic surgery to make herself look like Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) — a woman we might add Sheila had never even met. Sheila popped up years later back on B&B, looking like her old self, and there was no explanation as to who it was that Lauren had shot and killed. When Lauren has visited B&B, it’s been unclear whether she knows or not Sheila is (or rather was) alive.

“OK, I guess we’ll have to see what might come next for me,” says Brown. Is there a hint of ambiguity in that question? Is she really out of the B&B (and, for that matter, Y&R) universe? Or will Sheila once again surprise everyone and show that she’s alive and well, ready to scheme another day? Stay tuned.
