Michele Val Jean’s Storied B&B Career Concludes With Riveting, Meaningful Last Script

Life is about change. That’s certainly what scribe Michele Val Jean was feeling when she tweeted that her last The Bold and the Beautiful episode was airing.

That’s All She Wrote

“Feeling a little bittersweet as my last episode of Bold and the Beautiful airs today,” Val Jean began an emotional Instagram post. “My love and gratitude to Brad Bell [head writer and executive producer] for giving me a home for 12 1/2 years and to my fellow writers, producers, directors, cast & crew — you guys are the best.” Val Jean added two red heart emojis to her tweet. The scribe won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Writing Series Drama Team during her tenure on B&B.

Val Jean went out with a powerful script. There weren’t many attendees at Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) memorial but that’s what made it all the more emotional. Hope (Annika Noelle) attended not to mourn Sheila or pay tribute to her but to support her father, Deacon (Sean Kanan), who is mourning. He found something within the naughty nurse worth loving.

The episode also featured conflict between Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Sheila’s son, Finn (Tanner Novlan). The Forrester heiress sees things quite clearly — Sheila was a sociopath who tried to kill her, Finn, and other family members on numerous occasions. She’d prefer to stay home and do a happy dance before attending a service for Sheila.

Finn, however, was torn. He knows Sheila was evil, but he can’t help but feel a connection to the woman who gave him life — even if she did try to take that life. To his credit, Finn admitted that he didn’t understand his feelings; however, he felt a need to be there. He has a primal connection to Sheila.

While the service was going on for Sheila at Il Giardino complete with a coffin (!), Steffy and Liam (Scott Clifton) hung out in Eric’s (John McCook) office at Forrester Creations. The ex-married couple found common ground on Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and Hope’s split. Both are happy they’re no longer together, though Steffy lamented that her brother was living overseas.

Michele Val Jean’s former B&B colleagues wished her well as she prepares to embark on a new endeavor — bringing to life The Gates, a new soap opera with a main Black family.

“So happy to have gotten the chance to work with you,” posted Casey Kaspryzk, B&B’s Supervising Producer. “Lots of great shows, parties, and memories over the years!”

“We love you, Michele,” posted B&B writer Tracey Ann Kelly. “Wishing you all the best in your next chapter.”
