B&B’s Winsor Harmon Recalls Finding Brooke and Thorne’s Chemistry

This isn’t the first time Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan Forrester have been on the outs on The Bold and the Beautiful. During one of their last estrangements, Brooke and Thorne, portrayed by Winsor Harmon, discovered a passion for one another. Their dynamic will be explored this week in the show’s 35th-anniversary episode.

Winsor Harmon Recalls Thorne and Brooke Connecting

There was always a connection between Thorne and Brooke. Back in 1987, the two conspired to keep Ridge (now Thorsten Kaye) and Caroline (Joanna Johnson) apart as Thorne was in love with Caroline and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), of course, wanted Ridge for herself. The Brooke/Thorne pairing, years later, came as an exciting surprise.

“People have told me it was the first time that they [saw] a connection between Brooke and another man that really threatened [Ridge and Brooke] in a way that [they] hadn’t been threatened before,” Harmon tells Soap Hub.

Chemistry On and Off-Screen

Harmon and Lang have an off-screen friendship that the actor says helped them connect on-screen. “The writing for Thorne started changing around that time,” Harmon recalls. “I’ll never forget a scene that [Brooke and Thorne] had where they were talking about the stars. The writing was so right. It felt good.”

Harmon says the momentum he was feeling between his and Lang’s characters continued. “The next day, we had another scene where Thorne walked into Brooke’s office and we shared this smile,” he says. “It was all organic and real. Everything gelled during that period.” Alas, Brooke ultimately found herself still in love with Ridge, which put an early end to this promising union between Brooke and Thorne.

Winsor Harmon On Returning For More Thorne

Is Harmon up for additional work on the show should B&B reach out to him? “Of course, I’d be up for more,” the actor says. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t. I’m just a boy from Crowley, Louisiana and Rockwall, Texas who had a dream…the path that I have taken and that has come my way, I wouldn’t change it for anything. The highlight has been The Bold and the Beautiful. It’s been an amazing journey to work with one of the greatest and creative families [the Bells] in the history of television!”
